New Gerrymander

Neutrally Drawn Districts (using districtr.org) (in two pieces)

Where I am now.
I have been fiddling with AI to speed up the calculation of the metrics of this site, I have not yet gained any speed, as I have spent close to 35 days just generating the metrics for the proposed neutral map. I am hoping that it will give me a disciplined way of comparing maps. Road distances were calculated using a python routine on qgis. A couple of idiosyncratice districts were handled by Mapquest. The route distances are probably conservative, but the level of conservativesness should be pretty stabel, The number is 27,511 miles percent crossings. I expect this to be better than either the current or proposed california redistrictings even though they have access to tools which holds inequality to a couple of people instead of less than a percent as the neutral map does. We shall see. This number is far larger than for Connecticut reflecting both the greater geographic extent of California and that there are roughly the same number of counties a congressional districts.
